The Space Universities Network, together with UKSEDS, have been working together to run an endeavour that is designed to help students find space projects to work upon as part of their degree. The platform, SpaceProjects.uk, is a place designed to help foster collaboration between industry and academia, and gives students the opportunity to apply for some exciting and challenging experience.
A lot of students, when they are in the final stages of their courses at university, have to complete an individual project. These are often lengthy pieces of worth that contribute directly to their degree. Frequently, there is more demand from the students to work on a project related to space than there are space projects available. SpaceProjects.uk aims to help fill that gap, by giving industry a place to list their upcoming projects for which they would like to engage a student.
The platform provides the framework for students to do their project remotely with a space organisation, and advertise projects proposed by space organisations to students nationwide on a rolling basis. It is a scheme which has been specially created to give students this crucial experience and has been designed using feedback from academics, space industry professionals, and students.
Previous projects have included space based solar power orbital simulations and semi-autonomous collision avoidance for satellite capture system, working with companies like Space Forge, Astroscale, and Callala. We encourage any space-related business with a potential project to get in touch, and we help to scope the work to ensure it works for everyone.
